本片讲述了两位重量级当代建筑先锋艾琳·格雷与李·洛勃斯之间的一段令人唏嘘的传奇历史。格雷曾设计并和她当时的爱人共同建造了一个位于法国南部的独家别墅(名为E1027)堪称现代建筑经典之作,也是她简约的设计风格的完美呈现。她最终与爱人分开,搬出了别墅,而她爱人的好友——瑞士艺术家和设计师李·洛勃斯开始经常被邀请来做客,并且先后在别墅的各个角度的外墙和内墙上创作了8幅巨大的壁画。格雷的支持者认为洛勃斯的作品破坏了的格雷设计,但洛勃斯的粉丝却认为这些壁画是惊世之作值得永久保留。两位建筑师无意中的角斗,不仅碰撞出了这个绝妙的艺术作品,更是成为了永恒的话题。
